Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Director provides clinical oversight for all Saint Louis Counseling programs, including office-based services and the School Partnership Program. This role is responsible for ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment with Catholic Charities’ mission. The Senior Clinical Director is responsible for advancing the clinical performance and culture of Saint Louis Counseling by operationalizing the vision and strategy developed by the Chief Program Officer and Senior Leadership Team.

Overview & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Clinical Director is responsible for implementing clinical strategy, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with ministry-wide objectives through:

  • Operationalizing and evaluating clinical services in alignment with strategic priorities set by Senior Leadership.
  • Leading initiatives to ensure the consistent use of evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices across all sites.
  • Implementing quality assurance systems and ensuring compliance with Missouri DMH, The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with ministry-wide leadership on program development, data tracking, and budget planning.
  • Promoting innovation in care delivery through technology integration, telehealth expansion, and clinical workflow improvements at the direction of the CPO.
  • Serving as a key liaison to schools, funders, partner agencies, and regional behavioral health coalitions.
  • Serving as a visible representative of both Catholic Charities, Saint Louis Counseling, and the MH/SUD service line in community partnerships, public forums, and collaborative initiatives while upholding the integrity, mission, and strategic priorities of all entities in all external engagements.
  • Recruiting for and overseeing the clinical internship program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Providing feedback and frontline insights to the CPO to support strategic decision-making and future clinical design.
  • Providing strategic leadership to Director-level personnel, guiding them in operationalizing strategy and leading high-performing teams.
  • Supervising other key leadership personnel across both community-based and school-based service lines.
  • Fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and team cohesion.
  • Developing and supporting pathways for clinical staff development, including licensure supervision, consultation groups, and ongoing training.
  • Facilitating and participating in cross-training and collaboration within the service line to strengthen clinical consistency and staff adaptability across both ministries.
  • Leading efforts to address staff wellness and retention, in collaboration with Human Resources and Senior Leadership.
  • Participating in system-wide planning efforts within Catholic Charities to ensure integration, alignment, and responsible expansion of services.

Education

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field required.
  • Current Missouri licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required.
  • Supervisor-level credentials strongly preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6–8 years of post-licensure experience, with at least 5 years in clinical supervision or administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex behavioral health programs, including school-based mental health or multi-site outpatient services.
  • Experience leading quality assurance initiatives and overseeing compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR), with experience using InSync, CareLogic, or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong command of data tracking, outcome measurement, and performance improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with clinical productivity models, staffing optimization, and financial forecasting within behavioral health settings.
  • Comfortable navigating hybrid workflows and leading distributed teams across multiple service sites.
